Set-up

  • Description: monitor volunteers and help set up tables & chairs, put down tablecloths, set up CAA table, set up water stations, help food vendors carry things if needed
  • Benefits: meet different exhibitors with veg-friendly products
  • Requirements: helpful direction-followers who are able to lift heavy objects (25 lbs)

CAA table

  • Description: supervise volunteers at the CAA table; give them a rundown of the organization so they feel comfortable fielding basic questions and be a reference for questions they cannot answer
  • Benefits: help others navigate the event and meet a variety of people, while educating the public about animal issues and vegetarianism/veganism
  • Requirements: knowledgeable, involved CAA volunteer who is good with people

Food giveaway table

  • Description: supervise prep and service of donated food. Ensure food safety rules are followed
  • Benefits: try some samples and educate the public about tasty vegan food
  • Requirements: hard worker who can follow food safety rules (gloves, hairnets, etc.) who is outgoing and friendly

Pay-Per-View table

  • Description: supervise Pay-Per-View table; ensure we talk to everyone who watches a video after they’re done

Greeter

  • Description: lead welcoming volunteers, help with greeting – give examples; give a rundown of the event so they feel comfortable fielding basic questions and give them a reference for questions they cannot answer; monitor amount of swag bags and programs so we don’t run low
  • Benefits: help others navigate the event and meet a variety of people, while educating the public about animal issues and vegetarianism/veganism;
  • Requirements: friendly people-person who is upbeat, cheerful, and welcoming and has a basic knowledge of the event to answer questions

Maintenance

  • Description: station volunteers to monitor water stations and refill as needed and monitor trash receptacles and empty as needed; show volunteers how tasks should be done – where water tanks are located, how to replace empty with new ones, where trash is placed and where new trash bags can be found, what materials are compostable; make sure we have enough water stations and tanks and that we don’t run low; analyze trash receptacle locations to be adequate.
  • Benefits: learn about composting, teach others about compostable options and improve our environment
  • Requirements: tough heavy-lifter who can tolerate trash and carry heavy water jugs
